1. Service for
Full-time teachers in our own university
2. Principles for accepting recommendation
a.The recommendation accords with the subject range of the University, and takes into account of the balanced development of various subjects.
b.The consideration focuses on the proportion of enrolment in various colleges of the University, and the purchase of electronic resources that can be used across departments or across colleges.
c. Emphasis is given to subjects whose contents in the existing library collections of databases are less adequate.
d.For databases of the same nature, priority is given to those more authoritative and richer in contents.
3. Steps of application
a. As it is expensive to subscribe to databases, which also have to be renewed each year, please think carefully before making recommendation.
b. Before making recommendation, please first do a search in the “Electronic Resources List• Databases” system to confirm whether the recommended item is in the Library Collections.
c. Having confirmed that the Library does not have the required material, you can enter the “Database Recommendation Form” to make recommendation.
4. Follow-up process
a. After receiving the recommendation list, the Library will try as far as possible to request the vendor for trial use.
b. The Library collates the recommendation lists and data of trial use, and delivers them to the “Library Advisory Committee” for review. Subscription to those approved will be purchased the following year.
